<h2>What is NIPT?</h2><p>Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) is a screening test that examines cell-free fetal DNA circulating in the mother's blood. It can detect common chromosomal conditions like Down syndrome (T21), Edwards syndrome (T18), and Patau syndrome (T13).</p><h2>When is NIPT Done?</h2><p>NIPT can be performed as early as 10 weeks of gestation. It requires only a simple blood draw from the mother.</p><h2>Accuracy and Limitations</h2><p>NIPT has a detection rate of over 99% for Down syndrome. However, it is a screening test, not a diagnostic test. Positive results should be confirmed with amniocentesis or CVS.</p>
